Sniggles is actually gonna do it himself this time, so if you don't like it don't blame me for once....... So loads of summer releases lots of bargain buys but what is top of the pops???????????????????????????? Over to Sniggles ....... Moonska Europe have just released loadsa new stuff by British bands including Ex-cathedra, Zen Baseball Bat, Shootin' Goon, Uncle Brian, Lubby Nugget to name but a few. Look out for these releases in a record shop near you - Uncle Brian a local band from Salisbury playing their own brand of pop punk, a mixture of the 'best' parts of Blink 182 with the energy of LESS THAN JAKE. UNCLE BRIAN will be playing at The Victoria in Swindon on the 17th August supported by Salisbury mates Spankboy - FREE entry so be there. For anyone that doesn't know or listen to the radio Less Than Jake have released 'All my best friends are Metal heads' as a single on 7" as well CD and tape single from the highly acclaimed album Hello Rockview, out now!!! ( on tour everywhere in October ). Other releases out now since May: NOFX - Pump up the valuum - need I say more THE ATARIS/USELESS ID - a split CD from these bands - Useless ID are from Israel, they have been on Short music for short people where you may have already heard them, power punk meets Californian pop punk on one CD. RANCID - Rancid back to old skool with this new album simply entitled Rancid. More punk than ska. JOSH FREESE - the stick man from the Vandals introduces his first solo album. Not the usual Vandals music, more like the Foo Fighters on speed. Along with this a whole host of Vandals albums reissued with extra tracks. MXPX - Everpassing moment - commercial album from this Washington 3 piece. Check out 'Next big thing' & 'Responsibility' the single released in the States which is getting mega airplay. GOLDFINGER - Stomping ground - Doing the Goldfinger thing mixing metal with their own brand of ska punk, includes a classic rendition of Nena's '99 red balloons' hairy armpits and all.......... ALL - Problematic - classic album by a classic band ( yep you've guessed we haven't heard this one) FACE TO FACE - Reactionary - recently put tracks on the Internet and allowed fans to pick their favourite tracks, thus creating Reactionary. JEFFERIES FANCLUB - Live - Takes tracks from 3 albums recorded on the radio, a good quality live recording. OFF THE RECORD - Remember when - Tooth and Nail band mixing Slick Shoes with Slimer. Utilising metal riffs with 'In yer face punk rawk'. Cheapies Galore - headlining the cheap and kool THE WARPED TOUR VOL 3 LIVE - compiling the best of this years Warped Tour which will never see the light of day in the UK, so you've gotta buy it, including tracks by - Dropkick Murphys, Papa Roach, Less Than Jake, Blink 182, NOFX, Bosstones and all the rest for a low low low price of �10.99. Asian Man release their usual cheap comp. PLEA FOR PEACE for a low price of �4.99. 25 zillion trax for a great low price, what more can you ask for. DRIVE THRU REC. release a cheap comp called 'You'll never eat fast food again', which includes great tracks from ALLISTER, MIDTOWN, FENIX TX & A NEW FOUND GLORY, also includes some other up and coming bands such as CAUGHT INSIDE and LAST SUMMER. All for a very reasonable price of �5.99. Another great deal is the recent Equal Vision sampler, with bands SAVES THE DAY, H2O, REFUSED & the ever growing popular SNAPCASE. About 27 tracks for the usual cheap price..... Other cheap comps include Punk Chunks, Playing 4 Square and Nitro's Thought remains the same, which used to be called Deep Thoughts...So don't be fooled you punk kiddies you!! Finally Epitaph release another PUNK O RAMA. (Five to be exact!) WE WILL ROCK YOU!! The usual bands from the Epitaph camp. Look out for upcoming releases by VGS, SLICK SHOES, SPUNGE, LTJ and many others to come...Keep looking out for and finding that hip punk/ska stuff!!! |

Some kinda summer huh? Don't pray for Mojo pray for sun, or at least an absence of rain. If like me you need to air your tent before Reading 2000, remembr to pack plenty of air freshner or possibly make friends with someone who has a really BIG tent that will let you share........
